Supporting and Developing Refugee Enterprise

This conference took place on Friday, 24 November 2006 in Regent's College in London. It was hosted by the Refugee Enterprise project to inform participants about the Refugees into business project and to discuss refugee enterprise.

[NOTE: A conference report will be made available before the end of the year with summaries of what was discussed at the conference.]

The aim of the conference was to:

  • Celebrate the achievements and share the lessons of Refugees into Business
  • Discuss the pilot findings in the context of developing good practice models
  • Make specific recommendations on refugee enterprise initiatives
  • Input further into the overall evaluation of the project

The keynote speaker was Margaret Hodge MP, Minister of State for Industry & the Regions and our panel of experts included representatives from central and local government. The conference was attended by representatives from the public, private and community and voluntary sectors.

The conference came as part of the Refugees into Business project funded by the DTI Small Business Service to encourage and support refugee enterprise.
